Provident Loan Customer Reviews

I got a Provident Loan as I was on Income Support and couldnt get a loan anywhere else. I was pretty familiar with Provident anyway as a lot of the people in my street had Provident Loans which they were paying off week by week. Occasionally too someone had knocked my door asking if I wanted £50 of shopping vouchers when Provident were marketing in our area. I got the Provident agent round to arrange a loan for me. It was pretty easy - she did most of the paperwork and told me how much I would have to pay each week. I agreed to the amount and she asked me to sign the paperwork, and gave me a copy. It said I could change my mind if I wanted to. She then paid me the cash. Each week from then on she called to collect the weekly payment. Around Christmas I needed some shopping vouchers which the agent arranged for me and she added the weekly payment for those on to the loan I was already paying. What I did like is that my payments were fixed. I missed a couple of payments - one when I was on holiday and another when I was out when the collector came. I made up the payment by paying double the next week and I didnt get any penalties for paying late which was nice.

My family have used Provident for years, so when I needed a loan it was the obvious choice. I got the cash I needed within a couple of day and paid the loan off over 23 weeks. I borrowed £300 and paid off just under £20 a week which was quite affordable.

Provident are quite expensive and the majority of their customer seem to be on the dole or benefits, because they are the only company who will lend to them. My sister needed a loan and she applied to Provident, because she had a lot of problems getting credit elsewhere and she was accepted for a loan. She needed £500 and chose to pay it off over 31 weeks - she was paying £25 a week and had to pay back a total of nearly £800. However, Provident were the only company who would even consider her and they gave her the cash she needed quite quickly I think it was within a week. They do provide a good service, even if it is quite expensive.
